Chilterns Challenge: Marathon Trekking Adventure

Join us for a stunning one-day trek through the Thames Footpath and The Ridgeway, supporting The Care Workers’ Charity. Choose between a half-marathon or full-marathon route, both guided by experienced trek leaders. 

About the Challenge 

This marathon-distance trek starts and finishes in the picturesque village of Goring. Traverse scenic stretches of the River Thames, pass through charming Oxfordshire villages and follow the iconic Ridgeway, Britain’s oldest road. 

Two Trekking Options: 

  • 21km Half-Marathon Route: A rewarding challenge for first-time trekkers or those seeking a shorter distance. 
  • 42km Full-Marathon Route: Push your limits with a full-day trek through diverse and stunning landscapes. 

What Makes This Challenge Special: 

  • Fully guided by experienced trek leaders. 
  • Spectacular views of the River Thames, Chiltern Hills, and historic Ridgeway.

  • Fundraising Target: £500 minimum per participant

Event Terms and Conditions

  • Physical Fitness: Participants should confirm they are in good physical health. Anyone with heart conditions, mobility issues, or other medical concerns should not take part without consulting a doctor.
  • Waiver of Liability: Participants acknowledge that this event involves some risk of injury. By signing up, participants agree to sign a waiver before taking part.
  • Medical Disclaimer: The organisers are not liable for any medical conditions that arise before, during, or after the event.
  • Event timings and punctuality: The event time and location details will be communicated. Participants must arrive on time to ensure safety and proper participation. It is the responsibility of the participant to arrange travel and accommodation to ensure they adhere to the event schedule.
  • Mandatory Briefing: All participants must attend a safety briefing before the event. If a participant misses the briefing, they may not be allowed to take part.
  • Alcohol and Drugs: Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the event. If suspected, they will not be allowed to take part.
  • Event Cancellation: The organisers reserve the right to cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. bad weather, safety concerns). If wind speeds of 30 mph plus are forecast or a Met Office weather warning, the event will not go ahead due to safety reasons. Unless otherwise stated, entry fees or donations are non-refundable.
  • Media Release: By participating, individuals consent to being photographed or filmed for promotional purposes.
  • Storage and Security: Participants are responsible for their own belongings. The organisers are not liable for any lost or stolen items.
  • Minimum Fundraising: The minimum fundraising target is £500 per person. Your efforts in reaching this goal are crucial to the success of our mission. Please be aware that you may be liable for the shortfall to cover the cost of your place in the event if you are unable to meet the target. In some cases, we may need to consider reallocating your spot to another participant if the target is not reached. Every pound raised will go directly towards supporting care workers and together, we can make a tremendous impact. All donations are final and non-refundable.
