Professional Care Workers’ Week 2025 Kicks Off Tomorrow with Frontline Voices Leading the Conversation
Professional Care Workers’ Week (PCWW) 2025 officially launches tomorrow, celebrating its eighth year of championing the essential contributions of care workers across the UK. Hosted by The Care Workers’ Charity (CWC) and co-produced with the charity’s Care Worker Advisory Board, this year’s event amplifies the voices of frontline care workers like never before. Running from Friday 12th to Friday 19th September, the week-long programme features a mix of in-person events and free virtual panels, bringing together care workers, managers, sector leaders, and policy influencers.
Why “Professional”
A deliberate and vital reminder that care work is highly skilled, profoundly impactful, and deserving of the same recognition and respect as any other profession. “Too often, care workers’ expertise goes unrecognised. PCWW is about changing that narrative and putting care workers at the centre of discussions about the future of care,” said Karolina Gerlich, CEO of The Care Workers’ Charity.
With consistently high numbers of vacancies in the adult social care sector, the push for professionalisation is more urgent than ever. This includes fair pay aligned with responsibilities, career development pathways, and acknowledgement of care workers’ essential role in society. For people drawing on care, professionalisation ensures safety, trust, accountability, and transparency.
Highlights of PCWW 2025
The week includes an array of thought-provoking sessions and celebrations, such as:
- The Future of Adult Social Care
- AI and Technology in the Sector
- Why ESG Matters in Care
- Wellbeing – Emotional, Financial and Physical
- Workforce Safety
- Rights of Care Workers and Migrant Workers
All virtual sessions are free and open to everyone, whether you’re a care professional, policymaker, or member of the public who wants to support the sector.
House of Lords Afternoon Tea Event – Wednesday 17th September
A key moment of PCWW 2025 will be the Professional Care Workers’ Week Reception at the House of Lords, taking place on Wednesday 17th September.
This event marks one year since the launch of The Care Workers’ Charity’s Champions Project and Care Worker Advisory Board—initiatives designed to put power into the hands of care workers by involving them directly in shaping policy, programmes, and projects that affect their work and wellbeing. Their insights and lived experience have been at the heart of this year’s PCWW planning and will remain central to the Charity’s long-term strategy.
The reception will bring together parliamentarians, care workers, sector leaders, and advocates to spotlight the realities of care work and push for meaningful change. Members of the Advisory Board will speak at the event, highlighting the impact of the past year and sharing their vision for the future of the profession.
