Become a Champion of Care and Pledge £500

A staggering 1.6 million people work within the Health and Social Care Sector in the UK, and 79% of them are women. To recognise this vital workforce, we are launching our 2025 Champion of Care Pledge on International Women’s Day (8th March 2025).

This year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) theme is ’Accelerate Action’ towards gender equality. While social care is predominantly female driven, we are calling on all organisations and individuals—regardless of gender—to support our sector and help bridge inequalities by ensuring care workers receive the assistance they deserve.

How You Can Get Involved

We are inviting organisations within the care sector to pledge a one-off donation of £500—the average amount of a crisis grant that can provide urgent support to a care worker in need.

Take the Pledge

  • Donate £500 to The Care Workers’ Charity at any time.
  • We are launching the initiative on 8th March 2025 as part of International Women’s Day, but pledges can be made by individuals or organisations at any time throughout the year.
  • Become a ‘Champion of Care’ and receive a digital badge to display your commitment to the sector.
  • Nominate another organisation or individual on social media to match your pledge and encourage them to support care workers too.

Creating a Ripple Effect

We want to spark a movement—a ’pass the baton’ effect—where people continue to nominate and inspire others to support at least one care worker in crisis this year. By coming together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those who dedicate themselves to caring for others.

Why It Matters

The Care Workers’ Charity provides critical financial support, access to mental health services, and advocacy to the social care workforce. By joining the Champion of Care Pledge, you are directly supporting the wellbeing of care workers who dedicate their lives to supporting others.

“Care workers are the backbone of our society, yet they are often underappreciated and undervalued. This International Women’s Day, we are calling on businesses and individuals to pledge their support, helping to ensure care workers receive the urgent assistance they need. A £500 pledge can make a life-changing difference. Let’s accelerate action and create a sector that truly values and supports its workforce.”

  • £395 could repair the car that a car worker relies on to get to work.
  • £500 could provide one care worker with ten tailored mental health therapy to process chronic stress and trauma.
  • £1,550 could help a care worker with the financial burden of laying a loved one to rest.

*Disclaimer: The money raised in this campaign will act as unrestricted funding so that The Care Workers Charity can continue to directly support care workers with grants and contribute towards overall operating costs.
