Alex Ramamurthy to step down as CEO of The Care Workers Charity
The Care Workers Charity (CWC) announces that Alex Ramamurthy is to stand down as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 30th November 2018, having led the Charity through a two-year transformation period which resulted in CWC winning Change Project of the Year and being shortlisted for Charity of the Year at the 2018 Charity Times Awards.
Alex will join the Board as Trustee and will support CWC through a six-month transition period in a part-time consultancy role, continuing to provide the benefit of his network and experience across the sector with a focus on nurturing entrepreneurial activity and partnerships.
Alex will be moving on to his own startup venture; a booking platform which will allow care homes to rent out their communal space to host adult day clubs. The business will turn care homes into a hub for the community, bringing older adults into care homes addressing loneliness and social isolation, whilst generating new revenue streams for care homes – http://www.mirthy.co.uk/
Alex Ramamurthy, said, “I took on the role of Chief Executive in November 2016 under the premise that Ben Allen [Chairman] and I had six months to either breathe new life into the Charity and make it sustainable for the long-term, or to close it – a challenge that really grabbed my attention! I’m stepping down to make way for an exceptional person to lead the team through its next growth phase. We have found that person in Richard Muncaster and I am pleased to welcome him to the team. I’d like to thank all of our supporters who believed in our renewed vision and joined us on a two-year journey that has seen CWC resurrected and completely transformed. With your support we have built a platform that our growing team of six exceptional individuals can build upon to make a huge impact on care workers’ lives.”
Following a thorough search process led by Compass Executives, the Board is pleased to announce that Richard Muncaster will succeed Alex as Chief Executive Officer, also with effect from 30th November 2018. Richard brings over 20 years’ experience in the voluntary sector, leading teams in a variety of income generation, marketing, programme delivery, volunteering, communications, policy and campaigning roles.
