The Care Workers’ Charity thanks Martin Jones as he steps down as Chair
The Care Workers’ Charity has announced that Martin Jones is stepping down as Chair of its Board of Trustees, after four years in the role and nine years as a trustee.
Martin joined the board in 2017 and became Chair in 2022. During his time with the charity, he helped steer it through a period of significant change and growth, including its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when demand for support from care workers rose sharply. Under his leadership, the charity has expanded its financial grants, wellbeing support and advocacy for adult social care workers.
Karolina Gerlich, Chief Executive of The Care Workers’ Charity, said:
“Martin has been a constant presence throughout some of the most important years in the charity’s history, and his contribution is difficult to overstate. He brought calm, careful judgement to every decision, and he never lost sight of the care workers at the heart of everything we do. Care workers give so much to the people drawing on their care, and too often they do so without the recognition or support they deserve. Martin understood that deeply, and his leadership has helped us reach more of them when they needed it most. On behalf of everyone at the charity, I want to thank him for his generosity, his time and his belief in our work. We will carry that work forward, and I hope everyone who values care workers will continue to stand with us.”
Martin Jones said:
“It has been a privilege to serve The Care Workers’ Charity for nine years, and to chair its board for the last four. I have seen first-hand the difference the team makes to care workers facing hardship, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. I leave knowing the charity is in excellent hands and will keep championing care workers for years to come.”
Lisa Delaney, Vice Chair of the Board, will serve as interim Chair until a new Chair is appointed. The board has begun the process of recruiting Martin’s successor and will make a further announcement in due course.
