Before submitting an application on behalf of your client or colleague, please read our Guidance for Applicants  and Grant FAQ's to check whether their request is something we can help with. If the applicant does not satisfy the full criteria we will not be able to progress with the application. However, we will do our best to let you know of any other organisations who may be able to assist your client. Our response to applications is not a replacement for obtaining professional legal or financial advice.

We typically limit grant awards to £500, and £350 if the grant is to cover essential living costs. We reserve a small proportion of our grants budget to meet the costs of needs that exceed £500, such as essential home repairs. Please note we are unable to provide assistance with debts.

Working With Third Parties

We work with many people who are struggling financially and often with physical and mental health issues, too.  It is wonderful to come across organisations like The Care Workers Charity which can offer quick, relevant and effective help to workers and former workers in your sector.  It really was life changing for my client and helped him work towards reconciling his family. Fiona Murray, Financial Resilience Worker at West London Mission (WLM)

I found the process of applying for the for the client a very straight forward process, with clear lines of communication once the application had been submitted.  I personally feel it is extremely important for organisations such as Abertay Housing and The Care Worker Charity to work together when supporting clients. More so now than ever before Housing Associations are much more than ‘just keeping a roof over a tenants head’, it’s about supporting those tenants that perhaps require support in many different areas in order to sustain and manage their tenancy. I was really impressed with how easy it was to apply for this grant and thank you for contacting me quickly to inform me of the decision for Emily’s grant, it eased a lot of the pressure. Clare Talbot, Abertay Housing Association

CHAT is a stand alone housing charity and we are pleased to have worked with the CWC on many occasions.  People can be homeless for many reasons including escaping domestic abuse, relationship breakdown, ill health, bereavement, overwhelming debt and numerous other life changing events. CWC have assisted our clients who have been in very difficult housing situations by assisting with grants for rent in advance and deposits as well as necessary help to enable these clients to move on.    The provision of these grants have meant our clients have been prevented from getting further into a cycle of debt and having choices, often for the first time.  Feeling secure and safe for the first time can often mean clients are able to engage with the process of planning a future along with our continued support.  Stella Beever - CHAT, Senior Adviser

Thank you again for this great piece of work to secure Bella a new, stable home. It’s a wonderful conclusion for her, she is very deserving.Stella Beever, Housing Advice Team Leader at Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT)

With Welfare Reform and services being cut back for people in financial difficulty it was really positive for The Care Workers Charity to fill this gap and help my client who was in mitigating circumstances. Libby Tucker, Money Advisor, United Welsh

From myself and Lisa thank you so much to all the team that has made this possible, you really have made a difference. Maree Rogers - Supported Housing Officer (Southern Region), Centra, Clarion Housing Group
